Palm Sunday Celebrated with Solemnity at St Anne Church, Thottam
Thottam, Udupi – April 13, 2025– St Anne Church in Thottam observed Palm Sunday with deep reverence and community participation, marking the commencement of Holy Week. The Eucharistic celebration was led by Rev. Fr Alwyn Sequeira, OCD, chief editor of Uzvaad weekly, who served as the main celebrant. He was joined by the parish priest, Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, as co-celebrant.
The liturgy began with the traditional blessing of palm branches, symbolizing the faithful's homage to Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Fr Sequeira, in his homily, emphasized the significance of humility and sacrifice, urging the congregation to embody these virtues in their daily lives.
Fr Denis D’Sa, known for his active engagement in fostering community unity, highlighted the importance of Holy Week as a period for reflection and spiritual renewal. He encouraged parishioners to participate earnestly in the upcoming Triduum services.
The service witnessed a large turnout, with families and individuals from the parish coming together in prayer and devotion. The choir's melodious hymns added to the solemn atmosphere, enhancing the spiritual experience for all attendees.
